Ever been there?? I know I have. My niece Katelyn coined this term (or at least we thought she did), and my Husband and I and thought it was very funny. However, in reality it was quite true. While on vacation, my niece told my husband that my “grouchy” mood was because her sweet, adorable, and beautiful (shameless plug) Aunt was “Hangry”….a.k.a. HUNGRY!!!
While that was a few years ago….this little adjective has remained in our vocabulary….until THM arrived on the scene!!! Since I began eating the THM way, I don’t have the highs and lows in my blood sugar that cause those “Hangry” feelings. By eating every three hours, my blood sugar levels stay in the steady normal range. By not combining my fuels (Fats & Glucose), I don’t get the spikes in my blood sugar!!! When blood sugar spikes…Insulin surges out to control the body’s blood sugar level. Only, after the surge, often more Insulin is delivered than what your body needs, and in a few hours, the blood sugar level falls too low….causing that angry, foggy, grumpy….“Give me food right now….or some body is gonna get hurt feelings!” By eating every three hours the THM way, Insulin is delivered only when needed.
The Science behind the THM plan is spot on and, I’m happy to say Hangry is a relative term around here these days!!!
